The Heart Of The Crowd

Mar 29, 2026    Bob DeFelice

This Palm Sunday message invites us to examine our hearts and asks: who are we in the crowd that welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem? The word 'Hosanna' is both an exclamation of worship and a desperate cry for help, meaning 'save us now.' As we explore John chapter 12, we discover that most of the crowd had the right King but the wrong expectation. They wanted a political savior to overthrow Rome, but Jesus came to overthrow something far more oppressive: the sin in our hearts. This message calls us to lay down our own kingdoms (our personal cloaks & palm branches) - acknowledge our sin, and to seek out and embrace the humble King who paid a debt He didn't owe because we owed a debt we could never pay.
